Critical Home Repair Construction Assistant

Habitat Charlotte is searching for Critical Home Repair Construction Assistants to serve a year-long term supporting our mission of preserving affordable homes in the community. The Assistant will work with Site Supervisor staff to both complete construction tasks and also lead volunteers in the completion of those same tasks. The assistant will gain valuable skills in construction, leadership, and job site management. Habitat Charlotte is searching for a talented and committed professional to serve as their Critical Home Repair Support Coordinator. This position is responsible for guiding and supporting Family Partners participating in Habitat Charlotte’s Critical Home Repair Program (CHR). New Construction Site Supervisor

Habitat Charlotte is searching for a talented and committed professional to serve as a New Construction Site Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing and managing others in the performance of tasks directly related to building Habitat project homes, while upholding the standard of partnerships, quality, safety and team participation. The successful candidate will have a valid driver’s license, personal construction vehicle and experience in construction and construction management. Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills along with the ability to supervise volunteers and other team members is vital to this position. The candidate must meet the following physical requirements: the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work and maneuver on high spaces, such as roofs, work in tight confines and crawlspaces, maneuver over uneven ground and lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.

Habitat Charlotte’s Julia’s Café & Books is searching for TWO part-time baristas who have energy, excellent work ethics and great attitudes and smiles because serving the needs of our customers is our top priority. The responsibilities will include: coffee and espresso drink preparation, running a point-of-sale register system and overall maintenance of the coffee shop. The ideal candidates will have excellent customer service and have the ability to communicate knowledge of Julia's products.

AmeriCorps positions

AmeriCorps Construction Crew Leader

Building and repairing more homes is an integral part to our contribution to better neighborhoods and communities, increasing the number of families served. These AmeriCorps members will help manage and develop groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowner families on the build sites, all while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. The members serving in this role will be part of the AmeriCorps team that will give the necessary boost to significantly increase the number of families our affiliate is able to serve through our Critical Home Repair (CHR), Rehab and New Construction projects. With the assistance of the AmeriCorps members serving in this role, Habitat Charlotte will complete 54 new builds, 85 home repairs and 15 rehabs during the service term. We view the construction crew leaders as integral to our goals of building and repairing more homes and better neighborhoods and communities throughout our service area.

Preferred qualifications are:
• Desire to serve our community and an understanding of service oriented work
• Past history of service or related experience with Habitat for Humanity or other non-profits
• Leadership experience
• Good communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changes in schedules, weather conditions and other circumstances
• Construction experience
• Outdoor work environment experience
• Ability to lead volunteers
