Director of Development

With Charlotte at the height of its affordable housing crisis, Habitat Charlotte is seeking a dynamic team leader for planning, organizing and directing a comprehensive and innovative fundraising program for the affiliate. The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing and directing Habitat Charlotte’s fundraising activities, including the annual campaign, grants, corporate relations and sponsorships. This role works with the VP of Organizational Advancement and Development to create and implement strategic plans to sustain and increase Habitat’s fundraising. The ability to build and develop strong relationships, both internally and externally, is critically important to this position. The Director of Development will oversee a fundraising campaign of $3.8 million this year, and manage four direct reports.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for Habitat’s mission; possess at least 5 years’ experience leading successful fundraising teams; enthusiasm for teamwork, accuracy, initiative and critical thinking; understanding of database design and database management, strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both on broad-based strategy and on specific detail; excellent organizational skills; college degree or equivalent; and CFRE, preferred.

New Construction Apprentice

Habitat Charlotte is searching for New Construction Apprentices to oversee specific construction tasks and projects with the intention to learn and grow in the knowledge and skills that are required to be a Construction Site Supervisor. The Apprentice will both manage projects independently and support and work on the homes of the Site Supervisor they are assigned to assist. The successful candidate will have a valid driver’s license, excellent communication and organizational skills and must meet the following physical requirements: the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work and maneuver on high spaces, such as roofs, work in tight confines and crawlspaces, maneuver over uneven ground and lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.

AmeriCorps Family Selection Assistant

This AmeriCorps position will build and maintain the pipeline of homeowner families by recruiting qualified families for both homeownership and Critical Home Repair opportunities, educate the families about program requirements and the homeownership process, This AmeriCorps member will work on the initial stages of application processing, ensuring timely feedback to applicants and providing support to the Family Selection Manager and team in reaching monthly approval goals. This member will be one of the first points of contact for all homeowner families and mentors as each family goes through the qualifying/pre-approval phase. This member position is designed to move Habitat Charlotte substantially forward in accomplishing the affiliate’s goals of providing more affordable housing for our community.

AmeriCorps Homebuyer Education Specialist

This AmeriCorps position will primarily be responsible for the planning, implementing, and follow-up of events held by Habitat Charlotte’s Family Services staff, as well as assisting the Homebuyer Education Coordinator with class implementation, working in conjunction with other staff to coordinate the details of the events, gathering supplies, setting up/breaking down the events, as well as recruiting volunteers and staff to oversee certain aspects of the events. This person will organize events that are meaningful and educational to Habitat Charlotte families, and accommodate families not available for regularly scheduled classes increasing number of families served. This person will also help make meaningful connections between homeowners, staff, volunteers, and donors through the hosted events. The member will assist the Lot Selection Coordinator in connecting families with their home options.

AmeriCorps Construction Crew Leader

Habitat Charlotte’s AmeriCorps members learn, grow and connect with lifelong friends in a vibrant and growing city while helping impact families and communities throughout Charlotte. AmeriCorps Construction Crew Leaders work with a staff Site Supervisor and one other person as a team to lead new home construction and/or Critical Home Repair projects. These projects range in size and scope, are physically demanding, and require applicants to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. AmeriCorps members work with volunteer groups and homeowners, and act as a positive voice for Habitat Charlotte on the jobsite and at other Habitat Charlotte functions.

Habitat Charlotte is seeking 16 Construction Crew Leaders for a term from August 2018 through July 2019. Preferred qualifications are:

• Desire to serve our community and an understanding of service oriented work
• Past history of service or related experience with Habitat for Humanity or other non-profits
• Leadership experience
• Good communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changes in schedules, weather conditions and other circumstances
