Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

our commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion

At Habitat Charlotte Region, we envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live. That vision calls us to speak out against the housing inequities created in our community and put equity and justice at the center of our work.

This is not an initiative. We strive to be an organization that reflects the community we serve and lifts the diverse voices of our employees, homeowners, volunteers, and donors. We believe in honoring our entire community’s experiences, and it is our commitment to do and be better.

Grounded in this commitment, we have created a council to embed diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into the consciousness of Habitat Charlotte Region.

All Together Now

Decent Housing By All and For All

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region has an open-door policy: all who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to be a part of the organization’s work regardless of race, religion, age, gender, politics, or any other distinction that too often divides people. In short, Habitat Charlotte Region welcomes volunteers, supporters, and potential homeowners from all backgrounds.

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. Habitat Charlotte Region will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith view.

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region promotes and ensures equal opportunity through employment, community programs, and volunteer participation, and therefore does not discriminate or permit harassment on the basis of race (including natural hairstyle), color, religion, and creed (including identity and expression), military or veteran status, sex (including gender identity, gender transition, transgender status, sexual orientation and expression, and pregnancy), disability (including genetic information and family medical history), familial status (including marital or parental status), age, or national origin (including citizenship status and limited English proficiency), and political affiliation. This includes any other protected classification that may be established by federal, state, or local laws and ordinances.

This policy governs all aspects of:

  • Employment, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, work assignments, working conditions, compensation, overtime, benefits, training, promotions, corrective action, furloughs or reductions in the workforce, demotions, terminations, and all other terms, privileges, and conditions of employment. We restrict employment to those with the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Community Program Participation (including but not limited to Homeownership, Critical Home Repair, and Money Matters). We do not discriminate against any legal source of income, including income derived from any public assistance program. For Homeownership, applicants must be legal residents of the United States.
  • Volunteer Participation (including board members and committee members). Volunteers must be at least 16 years old for on-site activities; no exceptions.
