Group Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in group volunteer opportunities with Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte! Please note that this page is for group leaders who would like to reserve a construction volunteer shift on behalf of a group. If you are not a group leader, please visit the Individual Volunteer Opportunities webpage.

GROUP REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1: Go to the Habitat Charlotte Volunteer Log-in: https://habitatcltvolunteers.force.com/VolunteerLogin

STEP 2: Log into an existing individual volunteer account or create a new individual volunteer account

NEW USER/VOLUNTEER: Click “New User” to create a new account and follow the prompts. You will receive an email with instructions on how to create your password and complete the account registration. Continue onto Step 3.

EXISTING USER/RETURNING VOLUNTEER: All existing users need to reactive their account in the new volunteer portal. If you have not already done so since early June, click “Forgot Password” to receive an email to create a new password. If you do not receive the “reset password” email, please contact a Volunteer Services staff member who can assist you further.

STEP 3: CREATE A NEW GROUP ACCOUNT OR ACCESS AN EXISTING GROUP ACCOUNT

NEW USER: Create a new group account by going to https://habitatcltvolunteers.force.com/VolunteerGroupRegistration. Log-in using your newly created account.

NOTE: The “Search for Organization” button functionality is in progress. Please do not use it. Rather, please choose “Create a New Group & Organization” for the time being.

EXISTING USER/RETURNING GROUP LEADER: Go to the Habitat Charlotte Volunteer Log-in link: https://habitatcltvolunteers.force.com/VolunteerLogin. Once logged in, click the blue “View Your Group” on the left-side to access your group’s information.

STEP 4: SEARCH FOR GROUP SHIFTS BY LOGGING BACK INTO YOUR INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT: https://habitatcltvolunteers.force.com/VolunteerLogin

Click “View Your Group” button on the left-hand side (if you are a group leader for multiple groups, there will be a dropdown box).

Click “Sign Up Group for More Shifts“ button

Search for shifts using the filter system or just click the “Search” button

STEP 5: REGISTER FOR GROUP SHIFTS

Ensure that your team is available for the entire shift and that your team members meet the age requirement (16 or 18 years old depending on the task). Please note the maximum number of spots you can request is listed in the “OPEN SPOTS” column.

To request a group shift:

Indicate the number of spots you are requesting by typing in the number in the “NUMBER OF SPOTS YOU ARE RESERVING” column (far-right). (REQUEST: Please do not reserve more spots than you can recruit for.)

Check the box in the “SELECT” column.

Click “NEXT”

STEP 5: LOOK FOR EMAIL CONFIRMATION

NOTE: Upon submitting a group shift request, Volunteer Services staff will review it. If approved, the group leader will receive a confirmation email with full shift details and registration instructions for your team members. All volunteers will be required to utilize the registration system.

After completing the registration, a volunteer will see the shift and details appear on his/her account. An automated confirmation email with full shift details will be sent to each registrant. A reminder email will also be sent.

No prior construction experience necessary! Habitat Charlotte welcomes volunteers of all skills levels. Site supervisors and trained assistants will be on all build sites to provide task & safety instructions.

Habitat Charlotte makes every attempt to remain on schedule and avoid adjusting build schedules. However, it is possible that a group's originally scheduled shift location and/or task will change. Such changes will be communicated to the group leader immediately. Thank you in advance for your understanding & cooperation!

Due to the high volume of group requests, Habitat Charlotte reserves the right to limit the number of build dates a group can reserve.

Age Requirement/Required 'Release of Liability' Wavers

Every volunteer must submit one Release of Liability Waiver each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Volunteers will be prompted to read & electronically sign the waiver during the online registration process.

The minimum age for construction volunteers is 16; no exceptions. In addition to the Release of Liability Waiver, a Minor Release Waiver must be signed by a parent/guardian and submitted.

NOTE: There are task restrictions for all 16 & 17 year old volunteers (cannot work at heights 6 feet & above [no roof work]; cannot use power tools; cannot participate in demolition or crawl space tasks).
