The Building on Youth program is designed to offer a way for youngsters to make a difference even though construction activities are limited to those 16 years and older. Our program involves learning about Habitat, acting to help Habitat, and reflecting on the experience.

LatinHS_group2Construction Activities for Individuals:

Those who are 16 years old and older can participate in construction activities each week and seeing where we are working. Please keep the following in mind.

To help ensure a safe work environment and because of North Carolina laws, construction volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Teens aged 16 and 17 may work on a construction site provided their parent or guardian has filled out a Minor’s Release of Liability form.

  • People under 18 must not use power tools, perform demolition, work on the roof, or work from a height 6 feet or higher (for example on the 2nd level of scaffolding or from an extension ladder).

  • Individuals needing proof of community service should visit our Community Service Page.

  • Read our Volunteer FAQ's for information about what to bring and do on your volunteer day.
