CONSTRUCTION MANUAL

For the most recent version of the construction manual, volunteer Anna Carter and the Habitat Charlotte construction staff significantly improved the manual to include photos and clearer descriptions of construction methods. The Habitat Charlotte Board of Directors and its construction staff have approved these building methods. By providing sound construction methods that are volunteer friendly and consistent, it will be easier for crews to obtain a high level of productivity.

Distribution to Local Volunteers
Each Habitat Charlotte Adopt-A-Home house leader, leader of a regular crew, and regular weekday volunteer will be provided a copy of the manual for their use free of charge.    Contact Beth Van Gorp at bvangorp@habitatcharlotte.org or 704-716-7077 if you need a copy.

Note to the Reader
Due to differing conditions, tools, and individual skills, the authors of this manual and Habitat For Humanity of Charlotte assume no responsibility for any damages, losses incurred, deaths, or injuries suffered as a result of following the information published in this manual. Although this manual was created with safety as the foremost concern, every construction site and construction project is different. Accordingly, not all risks and hazards associated with homebuilding could be anticipated by the authors of this manual and Habitat For Humanity of Charlotte. Always read and observe all safety precautions provided by any tool or equipment manufacturer, and always follow all accepted safety procedures.   Because codes and regulations are subject to change, you should always check with authorities to ensure that your project complies with all local codes and regulations.

Information for other Habitat affiliates
We have found our Construction Manual to be an invaluable tool for use at our affiliate to increase the quality and quantity of homes built. We encourage all Habitat affiliates to create a manual for their use. To purchase a digital, editable version of the manual (price as of September 2007 is $500) or to make and distribute copies of the paper copy, contact Beth Van Gorp at bvangorp@habitatcharlotte.org. In both cases a written contract must be signed to maintain our copyright.
