Habitat Critical Home Repair's purpose is to provide urgent and major repairs to prevent homeowners from being displaced and to protect Charlotte's affordable housing stock.
We have 4 repair categories in order to serve a large amount of homeowners in a timely fashion:
1. Weatherization – Energy Efficiency retrofit. 2. Preservation – Basic repairs to flooring, plumbing, electric, and roof. 3. Critical Repairs – Multiple serious issues and/or structural problems. 4. Rehab – Full overhaul rehab job on property.
Each category has its own low payment plan based on the total cost of the materials of the job. The category of repairs will be determined after an initial inspection.
Habitat Critical Home Repair serves homeowners in Charlotte who:
- Are at or fall below 60% of HUD median income
- Have property taxes paid in full
- Are not in danger of a foreclosure on their home.
- Homeowner must own (name on title) and live (owner occupied) in the home.
- The Tax Assessment Building Value cannot exceed $100,000
For larger repair jobs, the criteria is more detailed.
