100 Pay Off Mortgages

Habitat Charlotte recently celebrated the 100 homeowners who have paid off their mortgages. More than 20 homeowners torched copies of their mortgages in the Habitat CHarlotte parking lot to celebrate their accomplishment. This was a huge milestone for the homeowners and Habitat Charlotte.

In the past 26 years, the affiliate has served more than 900 local low-income families. In return, Habitat homeowners give back to the community. Since 1983, Habitat homeowners' cumulative property taxes total over six million dollars. Their mortgage payments are recycled to fund additional homes for local-low income families in the Charlotte area.
