Information for those preparing presentations and reports on Habitat

Thank you for your interest in doing a research project or presentation about Habitat.

A lot of information is found on this web page including Habitat Charlotte's mission statement and history.

Habitat for Humanity International has a web site with a lot of information at Habitat International.  This includes information on Habitat founder, Millard Fuller.  You may also want to learn more about Koinonia Partners, the Christian Community where Habitat began.

As another source of information, you may wish to investigate the following books.

  • If I Were A Carpenter, by Frye Gaillard, 1996.

  • The Theology of the Hammer, The Excitement is Building, or More Than Houses, along with other books by Habitat for Humanity Founder, Millard Fuller.

  • Talking Peace: A Vision for the Next Generation, by Jimmy Carter, 1993

  • The Cotton Patch Evidence, The Story of Clarence Jordan and the Koinonia Farm Experiment, by Dallas Lee, 1971

  • Nickel & Dimed: On (not) Getting By in America, by Barbara Ehrenreich

Visit our Youth Participation page to learn more about how you can participate.

A member of the Habitat staff would also be glad to provide an interview for your report.  Interviews with Habitat homeowners may also be possible.  Please feel free to call me at 704-716-7077 or email bvangorp@habitatcharlotte.org  to set up a time.
